Crystal Thomason's Story

Hello everybody!!!  As many of you know, I have worked in the foster care and adoption field for over 10 years.  I currently work for the Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parents Association (IFAPA) and serve on the Iowa Friends of Foster Children Foundation Board.  The money raised from the Stride for Foster Care Walk will support both of these wonderful organizations. 

Currently, there are over 5,000 Iowa children in the foster care system.  Most children in foster care have experienced abuse and neglect from their birth parents and/or caregivers.  Neglect, physical and/or sexual abuse can have tremendous consequences for a child.  IFAPA provides training, support and resources to foster and adoptive parents caring for children who are currently or were previously in the foster care system.  The Iowa Friends of Foster Children Foundation provides grants for foster children to participate in extracurricular activities such as: sports, band, dance or to attend their high school prom, go to summer camp or get their senior pictures taken.  

Children in foster care and their foster parents need our help!  Please consider making a tax-deductable contribution to help support IFAPA and the Iowa Friends of Foster Children Foundation.
