Iowa KidsNet/Four Oaks's Story
The Cedar Rapids Service Area Iowa KidsNet/Four Oaks Recruitment and Retention team is raising money for the "Stride for Foster Care: Take a Walk on a Child's Side" walk and fundraiser.
Who are the Cedar Rapids Service Area Iowa KidsNet/Four Oaks Recruitment and Retention staff? This is a team of individuals who recruit, license, and support foster and adoptive families in the Cedar Rapids Service Area which covers 17 counties.
A portion of our staff will be present at the walk in Des Moines on May 5th, and we would love for you to join us! Can't make it? That's okay! You may still support the cause by contributing to our fundraising page- any donation big or small makes a difference!
All proceeds will be going towards IFAPA's Friends of Children in Foster Care Program. This is an excellent program which provides grants to Iowa's children in foster care for special "extras" in life which they may otherwise not receive.
Examples of "extras" which are helped to be funded through this program include: Sports fees/equipment, swimming lessons, summer camp (1 week max), Music lessons/instrument, Prom attire, Senior pictures, class ring, yearbook, graduation expenses (cap/gown,etc), college application fees, and more.
Again, these are opportunities that the children may otherwise be unable to recieve or participate in. Any and all support is greatly appreciated!
Below is a few short snippets from past grant recipients:
-"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to go to wrestling camp. I had a good time and met new friends."
-"I would like to thank you for the $200 for my senior pictures, it really helped me out a lot. I really appreciate it. This program is very helpful to foster children. This will be great to have senior pictures for the best memories. Thank you!"
